The municipality of Pehcevo for the first time was organized a Festival of brass bands in 2001, with the participation of over 10 brass bands from Republic of Macedonia, which was a real attraction for visitors an poetical tourists. Due to financial hardship of the events, even though there was great interest from the participants, the festival stopped being organized.
In honor of Pehchevo’s holiday - “Pavlovden”, the Municipality of Pehchevo has renewed the Festival of Brass Bands - Pehchevo and the Ethno fair of traditional products and handicrafts, Pehchevski Pavlovden, since 2011. Until this year, the festival has a tradition of 14 years, with a break of two years due to COVID-19 and certain measures and protocols, and a ban on organizing public events, gatherings and festivals. The festival is organized as part of the activities for the celebration of the city of Pavlovden and aims to promote the traditional music of wind bands and give them a greater affirmation.
Since 2011, the Municipality of Pehcevo, with the support and help of sponsors, has taken over the complete organization of the Festival, with the aim of this event growing into a traditional one and being one of the attractions that are organized in Pehcevo during the summer period, and we succeeded in that, because this festival has been organized for 14 years in a row and every year it becomes more renowned.
At the Festival of Brass Bands - Pehčevo, in addition to the performance of brass bands from the Republic of Macedonia and neighboring countries - the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Serbia, a large number of Macedonian entertainers and folk performers from the Macedonian stage, famous singers from neighboring countries, our local singers, a fuge number of cultural and artistic societies from Macedonia and neighboring countries, Dj etc.
As part of the activities to celebrate city’s day “Pavlovden”, on July 13 every year the traditional Pehchevski Pavlovden Ethno Fair is held, where producers of traditional food and handicrafts are presented, for 12 years. This fair allows over 20 stalls that take part in it to enable the promotion and presentation of traditional food, home handicrafts and crafts, not only from the Pehcevo area, but from all over Republic of Macedonia.
For the first six years, the Festival was of contents between it, and an expert jury decided which orchestra should receive the golden trumpet and the competition at the international brass band contents in Guča - Serbia. However, due to the fact that in Guča - Republic of Serbia, due to financial reasons of the municipality, the International Competition was cancelled, and we as organizers changed the concept of the Festival so that instead of the festival being competitive, the brass bands have a free performance without mandatory compositions.
Some of the pop artists who have taken part in the festival are: Brass bands:”Djambo Agushevi band”, "Uska Khan" - Berovo, "Jafer Band", "Senad Band", "Chorovci" - village of Crnik - Pehchevo, brass band from the Republic of Bulgaria, Brass Band "Bojan Ristic" from the Republic of Serbia, "Berhan Band", "Durak Band", brass band "Mladi Talenti" - Shtip, "Durmishevi Sergin" - Shtip and others, Brass Brothers, Ike de Koka, Vlatko Lozanovski, Mile Kuzmanovski, Silvi Band, Gotse Arnaudov, Vlatko Ilievski, Efto Popinovski and international pop artists Bjelo Dugme with Alen Islamović, Crvena Jabuka, Sasha Kovacevich, Rajna – Republic of Bulgaria.
On July 13, the Pehchevski Pavlovden Ethno Fair is traditionally held, where traditional products and handicrafts from our region, from other cities in Macedonia, and even from the Republic of Bulgaria are exhibited and promoted at about 20 stalls.
A hude number of cultural and artistic societies from our country and from the neighboring Republic of Bulgaria have their performance at the ethno fair. Also performing are young talents from the Municipality of Pehcevo who have a talent for singing or playing an instrument, the youngest also have their own performance, and the children from the "7 Septemvri" kindergarten - Pehcevo, and pensioner choirs, cultural centers, national institutions also take part with a full-day program.
With the brass band festival and” the Pehchevski Pavlovden Ethno Fair”, the tradition of the Maleševo region is nurtured, with the song of the brass players, with traditional food, crafts, costumes and handicrafts, and the same values remain passed down from generation to generation and from generation to generation in order to preserve the tradition and crafts.
