Dates of the XVII AsterFest edition: 4-8 August, Strumica Amfitheatre. AsterFest is the longest-running international short film festival in RN Macedonia. All 18 annual editions of the ASTERFEST Film Festival (since 2005, founded by director Goran Trenchovski) are dedicated to the professional short film culture and emphasise its affirmation, popularization and valorization towards the audience. AsterFest is a film festival focusing on fiction, documentary and animated short works of film authors who are coming from or living in the Euro-Atlantics region, UK, Balkans and in other world meridians. AsterFest presents the festival programme in the categories: Global Fiction, AsterDocs, Animotion, Merry-Diones, and Tributes. In the previous years AsterFest has chosen around 1000 films from 60 countries in the competition, together with a few special programs and several extra films. The main awards for AsterFest film competition are: Golden Horseshoe, Silver Horseshoe, Bronze Horseshoe, Aco Aleksov Award for Best Film Auteur and GJORGI ABADZIEV Award for Best Screenplay.
